01
The five criteria
We apply these questions consistently before giving a model space in the edit.
01
Face sculpt and make-up
We inspect listing photographs for consistent sculpt lines, eye placement, paint detail and wig presentation. We consider how clearly the seller identifies face options and whether the photographs match the options described. Studio lighting can conceal finish problems, so we avoid treating promotional imagery as a guarantee.
02
Material
We look for an explicit TPE, silicone or hybrid specification and note whether it covers the head, body or both. We compare advertised care requirements and material limitations, rather than assuming that the most expensive composition is automatically the right choice. Unsupported safety marketing does not earn credit.
03
Skeleton and features
We check stated articulation, pose restrictions, standing support and removable parts. A specification that merely says 'metal skeleton' tells a buyer very little. When a maker does not define a joint or feature, we do not fill the gap with assumptions from a similar model.
04
Store, UK delivery and returns
A model is not a useful recommendation if UK delivery terms cannot be established. We look for delivery destinations, any stated fees, warranty conditions and returns procedures. Unclear seller identity, confusing custom-order policies or unsupported delivery promises count against the listing.
05
Price and value
The starting price is only the opening figure. We weigh selected options, included accessories, handling considerations and possible import charges against the quality of available evidence. A cheaper configuration may provide better value if its shortcomings are explicit and acceptable.
02
Silicone in the centre: why material weighs heavily
Anime-style faces draw attention to sculpt edges, eyes and painted details. Silicone may justify a higher price where a sharply defined face is central to the purchase. TPE can make more sense where a softer body and lower entry cost matter more. Hybrid configurations attempt to separate those priorities.
Neither material is a blanket winner. Cleaning, staining, weight and the accuracy of the particular listing all affect the verdict. Our silicone vs TPE explanation sets out those trade-offs without reducing the choice to a single slogan.

Where our information comes from
Every product fact should trace to a page we consulted. We distinguish direct specifications from interpretations of photographs, and we check official UK information for legal and tax statements.
- 01
Store listings
These show configurations, seller terms, displayed prices and availability at the time of checking. Store pages may change quickly.
- 02
Maker specifications
We prefer model-level material, dimensions, skeleton and maintenance documentation instead of unsourced descriptions.
- 03
Product photos
Images help compare visible styling. They do not prove how a product feels, how long it lasts or what accessories arrive.
- 04
Owner reviews
We may summarise publicly available owner discussions when a traceable source supports the point. We do not invent purchasers or quotations.
- 05
UK official guidance
For consumer protection, tax, privacy and relevant law, we prefer public authorities and legislation over store marketing.
04
What we do not do
We do not physically examine every item or make claims that imply physical product experience. We do not publish fabricated testimonials, unsourced ratings or invented scores. We never portray a manufacturer claim as independent laboratory evidence.
Our editorial coverage is limited to clearly adult-bodied products. The adult-bodied dolls only policy also governs which stores and catalogues can be considered. Affiliate income does not purchase placement or a favourable conclusion.
05
Prices, updates and corrections
Each page displays when it was last checked. Prices and specifications are rechecked when a page is updated. Where a seller only advertises a starting configuration, that is the figure to quote with an appropriate month. The eventual checkout price may differ because of options, delivery and import charges.
If you spot a wrong price, a discontinued model or a misleading comparison, please send a correction with the affected page and a supporting source. An editor can then amend the relevant information and update the check date.

Where the method is applied
The full process underpins our 2026 anime doll ranking and the deeper anime sex doll reviews. We explain which features matter, and which claims remain unverified, rather than awarding mysterious grades. Our affiliate disclosure describes how the site's store-link commissions work.
